As the week winds down and we prepare for Shabbos, we breathe out the challenges of the week and breathe in fresh resources for the week ahead. We breathe out the difficulty of the hurdles we jumped over this week and breathe in a prayer for an easier journey next week.

This week, as a Jewish People we have a lot of breathing out and a lot of breathing in to do. So many painful thoughts and feelings and at the same time so many thoughts and feelings of empowerment experienced this week.

For me one of the painful things is that we are constantly missing the message. The message that retreat, escape, hiding, DOES NOT WORK! Pride, proud Jewish expression, Kippah, Tzitzis, uncompromising Jewish values WORKS!

(The climate in this country has become so polarizing, so hateful, so not nice, that it’s no wonder that hate can fester. Everyone blames the other, and the others political party. But if we all stopped blaming and took care of our own behavior and acted nicely to others, spoke nicely of others or not said anything at all if it isn’t nice, then we would be really doing our part in minimizing hate in this country.)

Let’s all resolve to stand prouder, to stand stronger, to #DOJEWISH and to love our fellow Jew by reaching out to him or her and allowing our own Jewish Pride to ignite their Jewish pride. Together, we’ll create a firestorm of proud Jewish love and proud Jewish life that will be a blinding source of life.

I hope to see you this Friday or Shabbat!

Good Shabbos!
