Sukkot, Shemini Atzeret & Simchat Torah

Holidays 2024-2025/5785
October 16 - 20, 2024

The holiday of Sukkot commemorates the miraculous protection of the “clouds of glory” during the forty years our ancestors traversed the Sinai Desert. Ever since, we remember G‑d’s kindness and reaffirm our trust in His providence by dwelling in a sukkah–a hut of temporary construction with a roof covering of branches–for the duration of the Sukkot festival.

During Sukkot, we also take the Four Kinds: an etrog (citron), lulav (palm frond), hadassim (myrtle), and aravot (willow). Each day (except Shabbat), we bless and wave them in all directions, symbolizing the unity of the Jewish people.

The season ends with Shemini Atzeret and Simchat Torah, marked by joyful Hakafot and the completion of the Torah reading cycle. Join us for the festivities!
