It’s All About Me

It’s not a bad thing, it’s the truth. The entire world was created for me. The Good Book says so. It also says that I was created to serve my Creator.  Ergo; everything was created for service.

The key is to be able to see it in the moment in real time!

Joseph does. He tells his brothers that unbeknownst to them, their entire purpose in selling him was ultimately to provide sustenance for them. Ie. their agenda notwithstanding, G-d who is in charge, was involved in the events to be able to bring them substance.

What a blessing to be able to see the harm that others wish upon us as a Divine plan for our own good.

I’ve been thinking about this not in the extreme of brothers wishing to sell their brother into servitude but about the regular challenges of daily life and in particular around the raising of children.

We were blessed to celebrate the wedding of our son Mutik this week to Shaina Gurary.  There is so much to be grateful for. Under the Chupah I thought to myself of the gift of being able to realize that our children really are our greatest teachers.

They don’t happen to us, they happen for us.  To be able to pause and reflect that idea, is to genuinely engage in some Jewish kvelling.

May we share happy times together!

Good Shabbos!
