Ever elusive, ever necessary, Peace seems out of reach.  I’m not talking about Peace between nations, although that too is a worthwhile hope.

I speak of peace amongst the people in our day to day sphere.  How do we get along while still maintaining our unique differences?

If you believe the media, you’d think that a civil war is breaking out in Israel. The media actually says those very words.  Having spent 8 days in Israel and listened closely to the “opposition” I hear something else.  Change is afoot, and people are passionate about the change.

“Even though we don’t all think alike, we can learn to act alike”.  Tikva Podcast.

Difficult? Yes. Doable, also yes. It requires the introduction of something higher than the uniqueness of the two parts.  A willingness to come together even as we maintain our differences.

What is it that is higher that can bring us together? The power of Hashem.

Oseh Shalom Bimromov – He who makes peace on high.  Hashem brings together fire and water as they are fire and water, to do His bidding.  Are you fire? Are you water? If we can find humility we can find peace.

What is the common good that Hashem wants from us? To be right or to get along.  Perhaps we can maintain our position of right and at the same time find harmony.

What do you think?

Ps. Pearls of wisdom on the BeltLine show up in all sorts of ways.  See this picture. Do you agree?
