If you compare the world of 2021 to the world of 1921 we are light years ahead of the hate and negativity that existed between people.
The world has become a more sensitive place taking into consideration people’s feelings, races, religions.
It is far from Utopia but we are heading in the right direction.
Why should Judaism miss out on this evolution?
Do you still dread the High Holidays? Can I try to help soften them up for you?
The High Holidays are a serious time, but serious doesn’t mean fearful or dreadful. They’re serious because something serious is happening; a new year is being born, a new world is being born.
According to the Chasidic Masters, each year on Rosh Hashanah a new energy of empowerment is coming into focus. This power empowers our souls to be able to remain fused with our bodies to actualize our purpose here.
If not for the fusion, we’d either be narcissistic people or we’d be living on a mountain top far away from humanity and civilization. It’d be either body or soul.
The fusion allows for us to live in harmony so that we can choose to make meaning and purpose of our existence.
Birth is a serious time, but what is born is a beautiful new being. That is Rosh Hashanah, the time of birth.
As we prepare to celebrate Rosh Hashanah 5782, I know that many people will be home for the holidays. Please take the time to say some prayers and reflect on our profound connection with Hashem, the opportunity and gift of the fusion of soul and body and our ability to make a difference.
