Every now and then a large window opens and we get a glimpse of the Hand of Hashem at work.  It’s true that G-d, the master CEO is running the world all the time. However, in the master plan, it was intentional that we not see that Hand of above working constantly or we wouldn’t quickly lose our purpose; to be challenged by the temptations of the world and our own thinking and to have free choice to choose.

Every now and then out of His kindness we get a glimpse into those workings so we can recharge and realign ourselves.

In this week’s Parsha we read of the story of Eliezer, the servant of Abraham, who goes to find a wife for Yitzchak. The Torah elaborates at great length, twice, about the amazing step by step efforts of Eliezer and the clear Hand of Hashem at play in his journey.

This year I was fortunate to marry off my wonderful daughter Shelbelle to a wonderful young man Leivy Lapidus. The back end of twists and turns that brought to this wonderful match are lengthy.  Suffice it to say that in the effort of finding one’s match, the Hand of Hashem is most evident.

Here is just one detail of this Hand of Hashem; Leivy comes from Buenos Aires.  Some 30+ years ago my father was the officiating Rabbi for Leivy’s parents. 24+ years ago my father was the officiating Rabbi for Dena and my wedding. And this March, my father was the officiating Rabbi for the offspring of these two marriages!

You can’t orchestrate this stuff. You just keep your eyes open and see how Hashem is at work everyday in our lives.

If we are not seeing it, we need to clean our glasses and take a better look.

Good Shabbos!
